| Technical Illustration Samples |
We produce our illustrations primarily in Adobe Illustrator to achieve sharp lined vector images that can be used for print, web and/or presentation media. Other terms for vector images are “line art” or “eps” files. Vector-based images are often used in print media and can be scaled indefinitely without degradation. These files can be saved in a format that is compatible for posting on the web. |

| Vector vs pixel images |
What is a vector image? Vector graphics use geometrical points, lines, curves, and shapes based on mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. What is a pixel based image? Pixel-based images are photographic files converted to grids of small rectangular cells (pixels). The smaller and closer together the cells, the better the quality of the image. When a pixel image is enlarged, it can appear grainy (pixellated) because the eye can distinguish individual cells. An understanding of the advantages and limitations of each format and how they can work together, is important for eliminating and/or resolving image degradation. |
